This piece has an extraordinary story. This client has a father who is very well traveled and decades ago had purchased three tanzanites in a cushion cut, one for each of the ladies in his life (her mother, her sister and her). These tanzanites then sat in a wallet for twenty years until one day he pulled them out and said, “I just remembered I bought these. Go have them set for Christmas!”
This is one of my favorite clients because in addition to having a wonderful ability to envision pieces alongside myself, she has an extraordinary sense of style. And this makes executing pieces for her a pleasure, since the results are so gratifying to see.
The setting is a comfort fit. The tanzanite sits in a bed of blue diamonds, and she wears the piece on her index finger as a cocktail ring. Spectacular.
