Antique Sapphire and Diamond Bracelet
This stunning piece is an heirloom that belonged to the great grandmother of one of my best clients. It’s cast in solid platinum with diamonds and sapphires. Originally, the piece consisted of only European cut diamonds and platinum, with three links removed to make a pair of matching earrings and a pendant. My client wished to wear the bracelet again, but because the links had been removed, it would no longer fit around her wrist. She also felt that the all diamond bracelet was too formal for her to wear. We needed to add some more links and a little something to represent her taste as well. A team of craftsmen took painstaking care to cast duplicate links (they cast 17 times to get 7 good links!), and I matched sapphires in color and size to be set alternating between the diamonds.
It was a labor of love, and the pieces were executed beautifully. The bracelet, when complete, appraised for $21,000.
