Baby Gifts
Some of my favorite projects are baby gifts that celebrate the arrival of a new child.
They’ve also been called “push gifts”, but I’m not a big fan of the term, because
a) different mothers have different deliveries and
b) it sounds like the gift is some sort of reward for delivering a child.
I prefer the term “baby bling”.
My belief is that no matter what the piece, a mother takes great joy in something that reminds her that she is appreciated. Her work may not be witnessed, but it is acknowledged. And I can personally attest that it really is never done.
Many of the gifts that I’ve had the honor to create with my clients are custom pieces that incorporate the entire family.
What does the jeweler buy herself? My own baby ring is a 2.5 carat oval ruby (not Burmese because of the recent conflict ruby development), set east-west andĀ flanked by two half-moon diamonds on either side.
